The Strength shows an increase of 111 since last year's

Efforts to enlist the co-operation of all firms in the

Colony were increased and a recruiting campaign was launched in July 1934 headed by a general appeal from the Corps and Advisory Board

(appendix "A" attached) but the fact remains that the best recruiting

agent is the serving volunteer and it is to him that the increase be

attributed. The number of volunteers and ex-volunteers compared

with the man-power strength of the Colony is still depressingly low

and the average age of the former is high enough to focus the fault

on the younger residents in the Colony.

Of the 110 who have left the Corps, only 30 left of the ir

own volition after three years service or more.

"B"
